Accounting for retail

In retail, money arrives three ways — cash into the register, card payments through the terminal, and transfers — and all three have to be reconciled with the bank. Centa AI keeps the cash register apart from the bank, never doubles terminal revenue, and checks receipts.

Cash register and revenue

  • The register is its own account (5010): income, expenses, bank deposits, end-of-day closing with a count and the difference.
  • A till export (receipts, shifts, items) is read as reference data: card sales reach the bank as one acquiring settlement per day, and Centa does not post them a second time.
  • Customer refunds reduce revenue and output VAT.
