Accounting in Uzbekistan: a short overview
A small company’s accounting in Uzbekistan rests on three questions: which tax regime the company is on, which documents prove each transaction, and which filing deadlines cannot be missed. This overview answers them with Tax Code references and points to the detailed guides.

1. Business form and tax regime
The key threshold is 1 bn UZS of income for the tax period. Legal entities with total income at or below it, and entrepreneurs with sales income at or below it, pay turnover tax (Art. 461); above it, VAT applies (Art. 237) and, for legal entities, profit tax. Turnover tax and VAT never apply together: turnover-tax payers are not VAT payers (Art. 237).
| YATT | MChJ (LLC) | |
|---|---|---|
| Income ≤ 1 bn UZS | Turnover tax 1% (Art. 467) | Turnover tax, general rate 4% (Art. 467) |
| Income > 1 bn UZS | VAT 12% (Art. 237, 258) | VAT 12% and profit tax 15% (Art. 258, 337) |
| Own social tax | At least 1 base amount per month (Art. 408) | — |
| Employees | 12% personal income tax and social tax for employees | 12% personal income tax and 12% social tax (Art. 381, 405) |

2. Documents
Every payment should be backed by a document: a VAT invoice, an act of completed work, a waybill, a contract or a till receipt. Many companies exchange electronic VAT invoices through operators such as Didox. For corporate-card purchases the fiscal receipt with its QR code matters. See Didox in accounting and corporate-card receipts.
3. Money: bank and cash
Money in the bank account and cash in the register are kept apart (5110 and 5010 on the chart of accounts), and transfers between them are neither income nor expense. Reconciling the bank with documents is the base of reliable books. See bank reconciliation and cash register accounting.
4. Deadlines
Turnover tax, personal income tax and social tax returns are monthly by the 15th; VAT by the 20th; profit tax quarterly by the 20th and annually by 1 March. The full table is the tax calendar.
5. Where automation helps
Posting statements, matching documents, computing VAT per transaction and watching deadlines is repetitive work that AI accounting takes over. Decisions on accounting policy and filings stay with the company.
